Eyewall Armor Bolt Installation

Concrete and Concrete Block

Male:

  •  Select a 7/32” ANSI carbide masonry bit that is at least 1” longer than the portion of the anchor that penetrates the wall/floor and insert into a standard cordless hammer drill. Do not use a rotary hammer drill on CMU/Concrete block.
  • Drill at least ¼” deeper than the anchor will penetrate. For Concrete and poured block, blow out the hole after drilling with a blowout bulb, compressed air or small shop-vac type tool. Using the provided 3/16” hex driver provided, slowly drive the anchor until the washer contacts the exterior wood, stucco or concrete. Use caution not to overtighten.

Female:

  • Install the provided combination masonry drill bit (at least 1” longer than the overall length of the anchor, into a standard cordless hammer drill. Do not use a rotary hammer drill on CMU/Concrete block.
  • Drill at least ¼” deeper than the anchor will penetrate. This combo drill bit has two sizes. The first or longest is an ANSI 7/32” masonry bit followed by an ANSI 7/16” bit. Drill until the large washer contacts the wood, stucco or concrete. For Concrete and poured block, blow out the hole after drilling with a blowout bulb, compressed air or small shop-vac type tool. Using the provided ¼” purple hex driver provided, slowly drive the anchor until the anchor is flush with the wood, stucco or concrete. Use caution not to overtighten.

Wood

Male:

  •  No pre drilling is necessary for wood installations. Using the Green 3/16” hex driver provided, slowly drive the anchor until the washer contacts the exterior wood, stucco or concrete. Use caution not to overtighten.

Female:

  • Using a 7/16” standard high speed steel drill bit, drill a hole centered on your mark that is 1 1/8” deep. You can check your depth with one of the E.A. Female bolt heads. The entire length of the bolt head (the part the screw inserts into) as a depth gage.
  • Using the provided ¼” purple hex driver provided, slowly drive the anchor until the anchor is flush with the wood, stucco or concrete. Use caution not to overtighten.

Brick over Wood Frame

Male:

  •  Pre drill hole through brick with a ¼” ANSI masonry drill bit.
  • Using the Green 3/16” hex driver provided, slowly drive the anchor until the washer contacts the exterior brick. Use caution not to overtighten.

Female:

  • Install the provided combination masonry drill bit, into a standard cordless hammer drill.
  • This combo drill bit has two sizes. The first or longest is an ANSI 7/32” masonry bit followed by an ANSI 7/16” bit. Drill until the large washer contacts the brick being careful not to damage the surface of the brick.
  • Next insert an ANSI ¼” masonry bit and enlarge the first hole through the brick being careful not to drill past the brick. There will be an air gap behind the brick to let you know when you are through.
  •  Using the provided ¼” purple hex driver provided, slowly drive the EA Female Bolt into the wood until the anchor is flush with the brick. Use caution not to overtighten.
